Sanjana Adatrao is a graduating senior from Palo Alto High School and is headed towards Purdue University to pursue a Bachelor's degree in economics from Purdue’s business school.
Sanjana enjoys all things art— Painting, Music, and Dancing
She began learning Kuchipudi and Carnatic singing at Prerna Academy of Performing Arts at the age of 5. Under the guidance of Guru. Aruna Chandra, Sanjana learned to apply the rhythmic foundation of Carnatic Singing into her dancing. This allowed her to synchronize movements with music’s energy. She continued to participate in many group performances, building a strong sense of teamwork.
In 2020, Sanjana’s family moved from Chicago to California. During the pandemic, she continued learning Kuchipudi through online zoom classes. In 2022, Sanjana began learning Kuchipudi at Sanskaar School of Dance under Guru. Samidha Satyam. She has performed in solo and group performances at cultural programs such as Maithry, MANCA, and Yuva Bharati. During her time at Sanskaar, Sanjana strived to foster a team bond that in turn improved group sync and camaraderie on stage.
Under the guidance of renowned artists, Guru Sri Jai Kishore Mosalikanti and Guru Samidha Satyam, Sanjana began her training for her Solo Recital. Sanjana was challenged to improve her stamina, abhinaya, and learn “the plate” in Kuchipudi tarangam piece. This process has taught Sanjana the importance of patience, mindset, and determination. Today Sanjana shows all that she has learned over her dance journey.
Sanjana is excited to continue learning and fostering her passion for Kuchipudi dance in the future.
